10-Day Trip from Malaysia to Singapore – Where to Go

If you plan of taking a trip to Malaysia, why not include Singapore in your itinerary? The neighboring countries are both captivating cultural melting pots and there are tons of exciting things places to see and things to do.

To conclude this trip under 10 days, only a few Malaysian states are included. There are a few other gorgeous places in Malaysia that are worth visiting, like Langkawi and Pahang so if you have the time, do check out the other Malaysian states.

Without further ado, here is where you should go during your Malaysia-Singapore trip.

Day 1 – 3: Kuala Lumpur

Starting the trip off in the heart of Malaysia, the city of Kuala Lumpur. The bustling city is the capital of the country and is home to some of Malaysia’s best tourist spots. There are so many things to see and do in the city, so you will need to spend more time to be able to experience it all.

One of the best things you can do here is shop! Kuala Lumpur is no stranger to shopping malls and there are a plethora of shops that you can visit from high-end luxury brands to individually owned local brands. You can also head over to Pasar Seni or the Central Market where you can buy traditional and handmade crafts. You can also buy traditional garments like the baju kebaya and cheongsam, which would make great souvenirs.

There are tons of tall skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, but the city is also a nature lover’s paradise. The Tun Abdul Razak Heritage Park is the place to go if you want a little bit of green in the city. The heritage site houses a few parks and gardens, including the Perdana Botanical Garden where you can see a range of hibiscus and orchids, the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park, and the Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park. You can also visit the local museums in the area like the Islamic Art Museum and the National Museum.

No trip in Malaysia is complete without food and Kuala Lumpur has no shortage of detectable treats. From local delicacies to foreign flavors, you can find it all in the city. However, every local will tell you to try out the street food because that is where you can taste the authentic flavor of Malaysia. If you are wondering what dish you should try first, a great suggestion would be the beloved classic, Nasi Lemak.

Day 4: Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan

From cityscapes to the seaside, Malaysia has so many to offer so the next destination in this 10-day trip itinerary would be Kuala Lumpur’s neighboring state, Negeri Sembilan. There are tons of places to visit in Negeri Sembilan, but the most famous tourist spot would be the coastal town of Port Dickson. A popular beach destination, Port Dickson is the place to be when you want to get away from the city and just soak your feet in the cool waters and warm sand. The town also houses some amazing beach resorts so if you have some extra time on your hands, you can book a room for a couple of nights and just enjoy the beautiful blue sea.

Day 5 & 6: Malacca

Another reason to visit Malaysia would be to learn about the country’s rich history and heritage and one state you should stop at to get your dose of history is Malacca. In history books, the state was once a well-known international trade center in the East, and it is still one of the country’s most visited states, being home to some incredible and enlightening tourist spots. The state’s capital is known as Malacca City, and it is where you can go to check out historical landmarks and cultural museums.

While you can take taxis and buses to get around the city, walking would be your best option to get around, especially when it comes to the narrower streets. However, it can get a little hot so pack some water bottles and hats in your backpack before you start your journey. Asides from learning about the state’s history and heritage, you can also do a little bit of shopping at the Jonker Walk night market, where you can find a wide array of stalls.

Day 7 & 8: Johor

The next destination would be a treat for both the adult and the young ones, and it is the state of Johor. The state is home to both historical landmarks as well as some modern entertainment and theme parks. Much like Malacca, there are also tons of museums and historical buildings in Johor, including the Sultan Ibrahim Building and the Johor Bahru Chinese Heritage Museum. As for recreations, golf-lovers would be delighted to know that Johor houses some incredible golf courses so if you ever feel the urge to swing some golf clubs while you are in Johor, you are in luck.

However, Johor is not just for the adults because the state is also where you can find the first Legoland theme park in Asia. The Legoland Malaysia Resort is one of Malaysia’s many theme parks and there are plenty of rides and attractions at Legoland, from roller coasters to carousels. There is also a water park. Surely, the best way to cool off after a long day of fun under the sun.

Day 9 & 10: Singapore

From one country to another, this 10-day trip ends in sunny Singapore. While the country is not as big as Malaysia, Singapore still has tons to offer to tourists. There are so many things to discover in this world-renowned city so you would want to start your journey as soon as you can to squeeze in as much as possible.

A must-visit for your Singapore trip would be Gardens by the Bay, a nature park that spans a whopping 101 hectares in Singapore’s Central Region. The iconic park consists of three waterfront gardens, and they are all spectacular. After a walk in the park, you can head over to Little India to visit the temples or shop at Mustafa Centre. However, you do not have to worry if your day ends a little later than expected because Mustafa Centre is opened 24 hours.
