It’s already end of May! That means if you haven’t already booked your summer holiday, it’s probably time to start thinking about it. But how do you decide where to go, with all the options available? Following are some things to think about before booking your summer holiday.
Beach, City or Lakes?
First of all, think about whether beach and sea and necessary for your holiday. Many people have the idea that if they are not sunbathing on a white sand beach, they haven’t got away. It’s true that if we have a hectic pace of life, a relaxing holiday is a great option. But do you need to have sun, sand and sea to do this?
You could choose a mountain or lake holiday. These are available in Europe and include the Italian Lakes. While the weather isn’t as hot as somewhere like Egypt or Africa, you do skill get the chance to sunbathe and swim. The Italian lakes look almost like oceans in themselves; they are so big. Surrounded by beautiful scenery and mountains, the lakes have ferries that take you to different ports along the lake edge. It’s great if you fancy a more active day of exploring.
The other type of holiday you could consider is a city break. We tend to think of the city break as a short trip of two to three days, packing in as much culture as possible. This doesn’t have to be the case. What about going on a city break for the full seven days and combining it with a few days at one of the many music festivals that run in major cities now? Some music festivals include Lollapalooza in Berlin and Sziget in Budapest.
All inclusive?
Another important decision when choosing a summer holiday is whether to go all inclusive or not? This can be a tough decision as there are advantages either way. Of course, the holiday itself will be cheaper at the time of booking if you decide to go self-catering. But, meals out may not be the bargains you think they are when they get to your destination. If you do choose an all inclusive option, you will need to take less spending money with you. If you choose a hot destination, you will not need to worry about paying for drinks and water through the day, which can add up a to big expense. One issue with all inclusive can be that there might be only one restaurant in your holiday complex. This means that the choice of food can become monotonous. If you decide on an all inclusive option, you might want to choose a place that has several evening dining choices.
Home or abroad?
How do you decide whether you will stay in your own country or jet off to a more exotic and far-flung location?
If you crave luxury, long haul is your thing, a good option includes one of the many Zanzibar Resorts. If you are looking for family fun, what about Disney World in Florida?
You might prefer to spend your time a little closer to home. Taking a holiday in your own country is a great idea. You can save on your carbon footprint and save money by cutting out the long haul flights.
